Mauritius – Mmmm, Mauritius!

We all desire a little bit of paradise for our summer (or winter) holiday escape. We imagine long stretches of super fine, white sandy beaches, crystal clear, calm waters and little pockets of peace and quiet, this paradise, all just for you. So, where do you find such a place, in peak summer holiday time, when flights and hotels strive to satisfy the demands of many?

Paradise is Mauritius!

Our Summer is their Winter, but when the temperature hovers around the 26c mark, it’s not the winter temperatures we know!

The overnight flight from London arrives in time for lunch, Mauritius is just 3 hrs ahead of UK time, so their is no jet-lag to deal with. A beautiful summer sun greats you and it feels like the perfect summers day, without the humidity and the baking 30c + experienced in much of Europe.

Mauritius is beautiful, not only does it offer some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the stunning mountainous scenery with waterfalls and sugar plantations, has one of the longest zip wires and fabulous trekking paths, giving stunning view for miles around. Activities include, horse riding, quad biking, diving, golf, sailing and many water sports,  to satisfy all looking for a little bit more than just the beautiful beaches.

The One & Only Saint Geran is fantastically luxurious

For the ultimate in luxury ask me about One & Only Saint Geran, recently refurbished to the highest luxury,  on a private peninsula of pristine white sand, with endless views amongst tropical palms out to the tranquil sea.

Their award winning Spa and state of the art fitness centre, certainly offers everything the many professional sports men and women, who choose the Saint Geran for their hard earned leisure time.

The Four Season Anahita is a beautiful resort, your really do feel far away from the busy world around us, acres of wilderness, lush gardens and private villas with your own pool. Dining is a treat!

The Maritime is a well established luxury resort, set in a 62 acre tropical nature park, which includes a giant tortoise park, and an equestrian centre. Horse riding on the beach is one of their unique experiences on offer, along with their wonderful restaurant ‘Chateau Mon Desir’, in a beautiful setting with wonderful views out to the ‘Historical Ruins of Balaclava’ & beyond.

The Lux* resorts are a fabulous group of hotels offering something a little different and fun, very popular with families and young couples. Their children’s clubs are renowned. While wandering around the resort you will find, ice-cream stands and pop-up bars, little brush strands to brush the sand off your feet, movie nights under the stars and the unique ‘message in a bottle’ these are bottles hidden around the resort with messages inside, the lucky finder will discover a treat in the message – a special massage or dinner on the beach, perhaps?

Other fabulous hotels I would recommend in Mauritius are Long Beach and the Le Touessrok.
