Cyprus – An island for all seasons

I travelled to this “island of contrasts” last autumn, and over the years have made at least three visits at different times of the year. With its mild winters I can thoroughly recommend this holiday destination.

Situated at the Eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea if offers sumptuous coastlines to mountainous interior. The majority of tourists gather where it is most convenient, resorts like Paphos and Limassol, so it takes a mere step away to find the real Cyprus.

The island offers the traveller an extensive choice of 5-Star Hotels, affordable comfort in popular resort areas and traditional hotels in the Troodos Mountain region. There is also great choice of villas dotted around the island resorts.

Cypriot cuisine has an impressive variety, the most famous of which is the halloumi.

Grilled Halloumi with fresh tomatoes and Basil

I personally love Cyprus potatoes which are so tasty, and I always look out for them in late spring. The island has a great range of wines and is becoming a contender and no longer the joke it used to be! There are over sixty-five wine producers who are moving the Cypriot wine industry, and many of them are quite ambitious, reaching deep into the island’s past to make appealing modern wines of distinction.

Columbia Beach Resort

My personal favourite location is the Columbia Beach Resort, Limassol, a stunning suite resort hotel.
